Another Flickr group challenge, this time on "iconic Halloween monsters." This one's meant to be a bit more tongue in cheek than scary.

As someone who is used to working with a very sharp pencil (as in, sharpening it every few strokes), I'm finding fingerpainting quite the challenge. If it weren't for the countless examples of precise drawings I've seen done by artists far more proficient than I, I'd probably have quit by now. Luckily, I've learned a few lessons about the importance of practice where these things are concerned. Not to mention, the process is just way too much fun to give up on.

This was the product of a Flickr pool challenge requiring a reinterpretation of an original photo by Rory O'Brien. It required thinking like a rabbit.

Winging It

Unfortunately, this is all I had time for today. A study of a wing chair with a graphic pillow in Wedgwood blue. I was going to keep adding layers to make it more substantial, but I decided I liked the high key, scribbly mood of it all.

Caught the most amazing autumn sunset from University Boulevard after scoring some Thai carryout. Fiery cloud formations kissed by remnants of sky blue. Snapped a bunch of photos while waiting for the the light to turn. By the time I got home just a few minutes later, the inferno had already subsided into a tame mauve. Beautiful and oh-so-fleeting.

Overpainted with iPhone 'Brushes' application. The washed out photograph just didn't do the colors justice, so I was inspired to try to bring it back to life with a little digipaint.
